Time Synchronization
Ordara checks your system clock at startup to ensure it's accurate. If the clock is too far off or the check can't be completed, Ordara will show an error dialog and close. Below are the two errors you may encounter and how to fix them.
System clock out of sync
This means your computer's clock has drifted more than 5 minutes from the actual time. Ordara relies on accurate timestamps for authentication and order tracking.
macOS
- Open System Settings
- Go to General > Date & Time
- Turn off "Set date and time automatically", then turn it back on
- Restart Ordara
Windows
- Open Settings
- Go to Time & Language > Date & Time
- Turn off "Set time automatically", then turn it back on
- Click Sync now under "Additional settings"
- Restart Ordara
Unable to verify time synchronization
This means Ordara couldn't reach any time server. This is usually a network or firewall issue.
Things to check
- Internet connection — Make sure your computer is connected to the internet and can load web pages.
- Firewall — NTP uses UDP port 123. If your firewall blocks this port, the time check will fail. Allow outbound UDP 123.
- DNS resolution — Ordara contacts servers like
time.nist.govandtime.google.com. Ensure DNS is working (try loading a website in your browser).
After resolving the network issue, restart Ordara.
Why does Ordara check the clock?
Ordara uses time-sensitive tokens for authentication and syncing with the web dashboard. If your system clock is significantly off, these tokens will be rejected by the server, causing silent failures. The startup check catches this early so you can fix it before running into issues.
